"Break the Internet" (インターネットをやっつけろ, Intānetto o Yattsukero) is the sixteenth episode of New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT and the forty-fourth overall episode of the Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt series. It first aired on August 27, 2025.

Synopsis[]

Impact Cop attempts to discover the root of all evil.

Plot[]

The episode begins at the ICPD Daten City Division, where the Commissioner calls Impact Cop to tell him that there is a lack of justice in Daten City. Impact Cop assures the Commissioner that as long as they hold onto what's right, evil won't prevail. The Commissioner corrects him and says that justice alone won't defeat evil; he then orders him to find the root of evil, which Impact Cop promptly sets off to do.

On the streets of Daten City, Impact Cop encounters Panty and Stocking, who are busy killing a ghost. He asks them where the root of all evil comes from, to which Stocking simply suggests that he look it up on the Internet.

Impact Cop is freaked out by the many comments that he sees on the Internet and rips a black figure out of a phone. The black figure, which embodies the Internet, runs off. Stocking discovers that the Internet is down, and so Panty and Stocking decide to find the black figure with Impact Cop.

Their efforts of relocating the Internet are unsuccessful. Just then, the Internet Ghost reveals itself from above the clouds, and Impact Cop figures out that they have all been absorbed into the Internet. They then shoot at the ghost, who is unharmed by their attacks and punches them to the ground. After the ghost declares that his connection to everything in the world makes him invincible, Impact Cop gets an idea.

He gets decapitated by Stocking and his head is shot into the air by Panty, causing his head to go ablaze before eventually colliding with the Internet, which is also set on fire. As Impact Cop declares that what he did is for justice, the ghost yells out that he's been "cancelled" and dies. One Heaven Coin subsequently falls from the sky.

Back at the station, the Commissioner asks if Impact Cop has figured out what other thing can destroy evil. Impact Cop, now headless, states that he is a rookie who has lots to learn, but refuses to look it up on the Internet because he is better off not knowing what he doesn't understand. The two of them laugh as the episode concludes.

Trivia[]

  • This episode acts as the first of two episodes in a series titled Impact Cop. The episode's alternate title is "The Rookie from the Flames".
  • This is the first episode of the series in which characters appear in the title card, but not the episode itself; those characters are Garterbelt and Chuck.

Cultural references[]

  • The episode's title and title card are references to the 1998 film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and its Japanese title (ラスベガスをやっつけろ, Rasu Begasu o Yattsukero, lit. Break Las Vegas).
  • Impact Cop is a parody of Inferno Cop, another anime produced by Studio Trigger. To suit the mood of Inferno Cop, there is little to no music included in this episode and the next episode, and the animation is very limited.
  • The Commissioner is based off of Over Justice from the 2016 Studio Trigger anime Space Patrol Luluco.
  • The layout of the site seen on Stocking's resembles imageboard website 4chan.
    • The "Noangel" name above each post is a parody of the "Anonymous" name above 4chan posts.
  • The Internet Ghost mentions cancelling, which is used for calling someone out on modern social media sites like Twitter.
