The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite.
Appearance[]
Throughout the series, the Moon has been portrayed as yellow, despite its gray appearance in real life.
Background[]
While the Moon has been seen several times in the background of episodes, it doesn't have a major role until "Raiders of the Nasal Dark", where it is revealed that the Moon is sentient.
In the episode, it was revealed that Oscar H. Genius (whose real name was Ugly Snot) invited everyone to the Oscar Party in order to fly straight into the Moon, with the help of people's nosebleeds. The people onboard of the blimp see a panty-less Panty and nosebleed in response, causing the blimp to fly towards the Moon. Panty gets entangled by Ugly Snot's protuberance, but with the help of Stocking, she was freed and the Anarchy sisters eventually killed Ugly Snot. Afterward, Stocking flew into one of the Moon's nostrils with some of Panty's boogers, causing the Moon to sneeze out a big, gooey booger, which Stocking gets stuck in.
The Moon is also the main setting of the manga chapter, "Cheese Horror Day", as Panty and Stocking traveled there in order to find the cause of periods. After landing on the Moon, they find Cheese Moon and try to kill it before Cheese Moon explained that humans can breathe fine on the Moon. Panty, Stocking, and Cheese Moon then decide to have a picnic, where Cheese Moon states that he is not responsible for periods. Stocking realizes that the Moon is made of cheese and finds it to be delicious. However, to the Anarchy sisters' horror, Cheese Moon reveals that the cheese and the wine were made from blood and that menstrual fluid is fermented on the Moon. However, after Stocking held her katana to Cheese Moon's neck, it revealed that women's menses are the only thing that keeps the Moon from flying towards the Earth.
Trivia[]
- The Moon's appearance may be a reference to the Moon from the 2000 video game, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
- It may also be a reference to one of the Cathedral Terra's forms from Gurren Lagann.
