Shigeto Koyama (コヤマ シゲト, Koyama Shigeto; born December 2, 1975) is a Japanese animator, character designer, scriptwriter, and storyboard artist. He currently works at Studio Trigger.

Biography

Shigeto began working within the anime industry during the development of Diebuster in order to learn about storytelling. He learned how to design characters with the help of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. From there, Shigeto worked on several successful anime, including Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt and Kill la Kill. He also designed Baymax from the 2014 Disney movie, Big Hero 6.

In an interview with EasternKicks, Shigeto stated that Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt was deliberately silly so that "people would think we were completely mad", which contrasted Gainax's prior anime, the rather serious Gurren Lagann.
